Yeah, Me Again
*sigh* Yeah, I know, I know …
I ignored a whole shitload of articles just to home in on a few of interest to me and I hope to you, as well.

You know, I’ve got mixed feelings about even bringing this up for discussion.
I mean, based on my online searches (as a crime fiction writer), I could be accused of all sorts of things.
I would say much more, except I don’t wish to try this case any further in the press, media, blogosphere, or social media.
Incidentally, and as a reminder to everyone, the rule in this country is that one accused of a crime is innocent until proven guilty (by the prosecution who bears the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt) (with admissible evidence, I might add).
And thanks, once again, Washington Post and internet, for the paranoia.
And speaking of which, how come when I search on the terms “Ron Charles” and “The War on Ivermectin,” I get nothing. So, I have no context in which to explain the irony of Simon & Schuster’s claims that this book has been published by a “completely independent” third party.
Allow me to quote from the article, even if I can’t find the damn link to it [And I tried to find it! Really, Gene!] :
“Skyhorse [the publisher of a book I wouldn’t buy if you paid me to do it] has a legal right to publish whatever titles it wants, of course, but anti-vax articles and books may be contributing to a deadly climate of confusion.”
Let’s skip to the good parts.
“Our vitriolic debates over free speech often elide the fact that publishing is a matter of selection and judgment. That brings us to Simon & Schuster, which distributes Skyhorse books and displays them on its website.”
This should be sounding awfully familiar. Gee, what online business claims no responsibility at all for all the cheap knock-offs, stupid books, and other crap created by third parties and distributed/sold through its platform? I have no idea, of course. I know nothing. Nothing.
Conclusion: “In other words, we don’t make poisons: we just provide the bottles.”
Mmm … I hear that.
Hang on! I found this. Covers the same ground with slightly different words. So why not the Washington Post, where I read it this morning in the print version of the paper? Who knows? Maybe I really do stink at conducting a simple online search. And my novels all suck, too. Right. They were great, but now they suck ass. Ha! Kidding.
Opinion: Want to be happy? Then don’t be a lawyer. (Gift link!)
Starts off talking about lawyers and their tendency to “thrive on stress” and slowly turns into an article about the wonders of nature.
And it’s all true. Well, in my opinion.
