What do you say when …?

B: God, I’m bored.

O: Mmm. Well, on the whole, this isn’t such a bad way to make a living. It’s nice to sit here, staring off into space, waiting for a server who never comes.

B: Speaking of which, I may need a refill. At least, based on what I can see of my cup from the corner of my eye.

A moment of companionable silence follows.

B: Hey. What do you tell people when they ask you what you do?

O: That I’m a model. How about you?

B: That I’m in marketing.
