The above image is a stock photo, which happens to resemble what public school looked like when I was in a kid in Queens, NY.

I’m using it for illustrative purposes only.

You see, when I was growing up, the atom bomb was relatively new. I mean, it had been tested, developed, and used in the interest of ending World War II in Japan, way back in the 1940s. But you’d be surprised how much weird stuff we believed about it.

Gives a whole new meaning to the term “nuclear family.” 🙂 And, yes, I remember crouching under my desk and thinking, This is ridiculous.

PS: I was thinking this might make a weird Memorial Day post, but then I said, “Nah. It’s a much better post for a Weird, Wacky Wednesday!” 🙂 No matter what day it is now. :)
