The Only Constant is Change
I wrote and published this column online in February 2013. And, I have to confess, things really have changed since then. And the plans I discuss here, well … they’re happening, just not quite how I expected. Read on to learn more about my thoughts in 2013:
I’m writing this to let you know that things will be changing at this website within the next month or so. I’ve already shut down three of my blogs, and I’ll be starting new ones that feature work on my memoirs, dystonia and related resources, writer’s resources, along with my day-to-day blog and the blog where I post book reviews.
My life as a writer is evolving so quickly, it’s becoming increasingly hard to predict what I’m going to be doing and how at any time in the future. However, I do know this. I am first and foremost a storyteller. My ultimate goal is to tell stories for a living, whether those stories are in the form of novels, short stories or films.
However, my website will be more than just a place to show off my work. I plan to make it a destination site for my own funny life stories, opinion pieces, film reviews, random weird observations, as well as the resources I’ve mentioned and more. Everyone thinks their life is like a weird reality show. Ha! Well, here’s a story for you. Isn’t that hilarious?
Not to mention these stories?
Here’s the point. Every day that we live is a crap shoot. I could die tomorrow, and a few people would mourn, but life would go on. The point of living isn’t simply to make as much money as possible and buy as many toys as possible. If I’d wanted to do that, I’d have kept practicing law and thinking about being a writer, instead of doing it.
We should live our lives as if there were no tomorrow. Play it smart, but not too smart, or you may cheat yourself out of really living.
Therefore, I look forward to sharing my work and thoughts as a writer and happy fool on life’s road with you. I’ll have more travel photos to share as time goes on. Time’s a wasting, and I’m not getting any younger.
In conclusion, I’ll quote Mark Twain, “Always do right. This will surprise some people and astonish the rest.”
PS: And that, ladies and gentlemen, is engaging with a reader. 🙂 And going the extra miles to do it!
PPS: I’m also thrilled to announce this! 🙂
And all hail The Bloggess!
