Show Us Your Blue! — One Honest Indie
Hi everyone. Well, this is the final week of Dystonia Awareness Month, and I got to tell you, I have been doing a crap job of really trying to spread the word and awareness of dystonia during this month. So what I would like to do, since … this is really last minute, unfortunately, but I will try to tweet this or do this, spread this around as much as possible with friends, people I know, whoever. In any case, I’m wearing blue all around. My blue Tardis necklace from England, genuine and from an English reader and also my blue sweater. So having said that, I would like everybody this week if they could, to wear blue for dystonia.
And if you would do that please, and maybe take a picture of it and put it up on either Twitter or Instagram and tag me. I’m at @debbimack on Twitter and on Instagram I’m @debbimacktoo. So if you could do that this week, I would be so thrilled just to raise awareness of dystonia that way. And what I’ll do is if you do that, please, if you’re interested, just give me your email address and I will send you a copy of my latest novel, digital in whatever format you want. So having said that, that’s my pitch for this week, I guess you could say, because really we need to raise awareness of this particular condition because honest to God, it is disabling. I speak from experience. So having said that, thank you for listening and I will hope that you take this message to heart and do this. I’m also taking part in the Dystonia Zoo Day, this upcoming zoo fundraising effort. It’s team DMV Dystonia, so be on the lookout for that, I guess if you would be so kind. Thank you so much, and I’ll talk to you later.
Of course, I forgot to mention a few things. First, if you could use hashtags like #dystonia, #dystoniaawareness, #dystoniaawarenessmonth, that kind of thing, it would help. Also just say, “I’m wearing blue for dystonia”, or something to that effect. Say whatever you want. The point is wearing blue for dystonia is to raise awareness of dystonia, and maybe I’ll try to include some sort of description of dystonia in wherever I post this. I don’t know, because a lot of people don’t even know what it is, but it’s a problem. Believe me, my hand will tell you. I’m not giving you the finger. It’s just what it does to my hand and my foot. You would be surprised how much it affects my foot. But anyway, that’s why I keep walking. I just keep hoping, “Walk, Debbi, walk. Maybe it’ll help.” Michael J. Fox. Yeah, I say that name only because he mentioned dystonia on Curb Your Enthusiasm. That was a long time ago and I still remember it. I can’t believe I remember that still so clearly. Anyway, it doesn’t matter. That was all I had to say. Talk to you later.
