Hi everyone. Today I’m reviewing Sister Mother Warrior by Vanessa Riley. Boy, is this a great book. That’s all I can say. This is an absolutely fantastic book.

It is so well researched, and it’s about two women who are involved in the Haitian Revolution in different ways, and they’re very different people and they’re both awesome. And I’m just so impressed with the effort that went into this book. It’s not only, it has a kind of an epic feel to it.

Not only that, but it will tell you so much about the history of Haiti and how strong the women of this culture were. So very strong. Women warriors fighting for freedom from slavery, but at the same time recognizing their own complicity in the process, which is really interesting. I mean, it’s a perspective that you don’t see talked about a whole lot, at least I don’t see it talked about a whole lot, which I think it’s important to understand how these things happened.

And there’s a whole part at the end, a whole section where the author talks about the kind of research she did, and I was just so thoroughly impressed with this. This is just a magnificent book and really everybody should read it. I mean that. I loved it. <laugh>, obviously. So five stars or two thumbs up or whatever. I loved it. That’s it. That’s all there is to it. Thanks, and I’ll talk to you later.
