My Book Review of ‘Killer Content’ — Debbi Mack
Hi! Today, I’m reviewing Killer Content by Kiley Roache. Love this cover, too. Uh <laugh> that’s great.
Anyway, this is kind of a fun, uh, almost guilty read <laugh> to me cuz it’s like, okay. Kind of like a reality show in a book. <laugh> Kind of a reality show in a book. It’s about a group of older teenagers or young adults, I can’t remember now. It’s been a while since I read it, frankly, but it did make quite an impression. But in any event, it’s millennials {actually teens — Gen Z? Gen WTF? IDK! 🙂 ) in a house who are doing TikTok and it’s a thing, this house and these people together doing TikTok videos.
Okay. It’s like a reality show. Right? Okay. With TikTok. And it is TikTok. Yes. TikTok. And I think the police would know that by the way. <laugh> They would really, really, so anyway, that’s what I’m saying about this book.
It’s kind of a fun read and at the same time very serious, because it gets into the whole idea of internet celebrity, use of social media, the effect it has on people mentally. Some get a little unbalanced let’s say, and shit happens. So I found it compelling reading. Though at first, I was like, “Oh, TikTokers? Really?” But then I’m like, okay, okay. I’m on board. You know? And the characters really, you’re drawn in by the characters when you come right down to it. It always comes down to the characters, I think. <laugh> You know, no matter what the plot, right? I mean, you have to have a good plot obviously, but characters first <laugh> perhaps always.
Anyway, that’s it. And thanks a lot. And I’ll talk to you later!
PS: Is my auto-transcription program having a laugh? 🙂 <laugh>
