Improve Creativity Through the Power of Habit

Hi, everyone! Today, I’m going to talk a little bit about the power of habit, because having the habit of creating things is the secret to succeeding with creating them.

When you develop the habit, you’ll not only produce something, but you’ll get better at producing it, the more you do it. And I’m just going to tell you a quick story.

I hope it’s quick. When I was a teenager, I was 16 at the time, turning 17, and I wanted to learn to play piano. And so I took piano lessons and I practiced every single day, every single solitary day for four hours, at least, a day. I became good enough by the time I graduated high school to go to college and actually major in music. But I chose not to. I didn’t think I had it in me to become a professional musician full-time. I just didn’t think I had enough in me to do that. I might’ve been wrong, but I’ll never know.

The thing is I’m glad I chose to be a writer. I love writing. It’s what I’ve loved all my life. I love books. I love movies. I love all written things. Not all written things, of course, because not everything I read is going to be something that I like. But in any event, the point is the power of habit will help you become better. It’s a matter of establishing those habits, figuring out how to work them into your day, into your life. And that was all I had to say right now. So stay motivated, keep writing or creating whatever it is you’re doing. And I’ll talk to you later.
