Dystonia Virtual Zoo Day is Coming!
I’m officially announcing that I’m participating in a fundraiser for the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation (DMRF). Last year I took part in it, when I established a fundraising team, DMV Dystonia. (As you can see if you click the link, I’m bringing the team back this year.)
I’ve been involved with the DMRF for many years. In 2004, I had a stroke. Although I made a complete recovery from the stroke, as a secondary effect, I developed dystonia on the left side of my body. This causes the opposing muscles of my hand and foot to improperly fight each other. The result is that my left hand and foot are constantly twisting and clenching in unnatural poses, which are uncomfortable, painful, and exhausting. The condition has no cure at this point, and treatments are less-than-perfect to say the least.
I’ve previously organized a successful fundraiser for DMRF, where we managed to raise more than $1,000.
This year’s event kicks off on August 18, 2022 at 6 PM Central Time and Closing Ceremonies take place on October 8, 2022. The events will be livestreamed, but there’s no obligation on your part to attend.
Here’s how it works:
-All team donations will be eligible to be matched.
-All registration fees for teams that reach 25 people (free or paid), will be matched.
-For every 10 registrations (free or paid), DMRF gets $100 from the match.
Every paid registrant will receive a T-shirt but only registrants on teams of 20 or more will receive a personalized T-shirt. Teams must be completely registered by September 1 to ensure that your personalized team T-shirt will be available. All T-shirts will be shipped starting in September.

Technically, you can join my team for free. However, the more money we can raise, the more matching funds DMRF stands to gain.

I would truly appreciate any support you can give to this effort. Thank you.
Please share this post! Thanks again!
