Are we supposed to …?
Another completely fictional conversation.
Brown: Hey, shouldn’t we be celebrating something?
Orange: Like what?
Brown: Oh, a holiday. Or … something.
Orange sighs.
Orange: Okay. Celebrate what exactly? And what shall we do?
Brown: Celebrate the founding of our country.
Orange: A bunch of disgruntled white guys got together, formed a union, and committed treason. Is that what we’re celebrating?
Brown: You know, when you put it that way …
Orange: And apparently, our right to choose isn’t covered by the constitution or the Bill of Rights. But we can buy as many guns as we like. Plus Supreme Court decisions like this one. So … now, what shall we do?
Brown: Light a sparkler?
Me: Yes, it’s infuriating. And just plain crazy. But, at least, I live in a country that lets me express my opinion. Right? … Right? 🙂
Orange: And whatever happened to Chevron deference, anyhow? Hmm?
Then it was Sunday …
This conversation also never took place.
Brown: You know, what? This guy here, he lived a righteous life.
Orange: I wonder what the cats thought of him.
Brown: Well, everyone’s entitled to their opinion. This book looks interesting.
Orange: Speaking of interesting, did you know that El Greco’s real name was Domenikos Theotokopoulos. Did you know El Greco is Spanish for “the Greek”, but he mainly spent his life as an artist in Spain. (The photo’s better somehow in the paper.)
Brown: I know that this woman knows what she wants.
Orange: And this woman got screwed. Until she refused to be.
Brown: You know, we really should take more sick days.
Orange: Um … res ipsa loquitur.
Brown: Imagine. Thinking “women don’t write”.
Orange: Yeah, right. Right?
Brown: If you have a subscription, let me tell you about this woman!
